Halfords Sale

But what i would like to say is depends what you plan to do with it.
Like @Low Rider would probably only ever remove a wheel every now and again Halfords jack well safer that original.
But someone like @t-tony who could do more involved stuff like myself the garage jack the only thing to have.
For example @Low Rider just got his exhaust gearbox mounting changed .
garage jack and axle stands I'd have a zed at 45' on 2 wheels and be under it wouldn't be doing that with a Halfords jack
Thank you.

For occasional use a budget jack will be ok but get a decent set of axle stands. The budget axle stands are more often than not made from 2mm angle and 2mm wall thickness tube and they rate these at 2 tonne on the pair. An office chair is more robustly made and there aren't many of us that weigh as much as a small car =))

ive used a standard trolley jack from halfords for the past 10 years on all manner of cars and its never let me down. mine gets used at least every other weekend and has done for years

for the home DIY'er they are spot on and cheap.

I needed a jack at 3:30pm on a Sunday. I bought one of the Halford's low profile jacks because I needed one. What choice do you have when needs must .....
Didn't have anything to hand to drive the wheel on to to use a bottle jack and, living on a bend that most drivers use as a practice for motor racing aspirations I wouldn't use the kerb there to get a bit more height.

It does the job, just. Only just lifts high enough to get stands under. Certainly wouldn't trust it or any Jack without the car supported.

I'd certainly agree with buy cheap, buy twice. Will be getting a better one before attempting anything more serious than changing wheels. But, that's all it's likely to do for s while.

I've had a Halfords 3ton jack for 15yrs now, still use it just the same way as I did the first time, never get my torso near the car when jacking it up or putting axle stands under, have broom for the extra reach if needed. Had a Ford escort RS2000 come off a bottle jack in the 80s just missing my shoulder lucky I had the front wheel under it to stop it going all the way, never gonna get court out again. It's not so much what you pay although it is nice to be able to afford good/best equipment, it's more of an awareness thing. IMO.
