Car insurance is so unfair for everyone except the companies of course, you've got to have it and don't they know it. I just hope that if I ever have a bump it involves a Ferrari or Lamborghini write off, make them pay:banghead:

Not much of an update on this. the assurance garage that is supposed to do the assesment on on answerphone and isn't calling back.

I tried to to open the bonnet but it won't open, I suspect at least one of the two prods is stuck in the latch, so it's likely need cutting to be opened...

A friend of mine told me he had a car mecanic on staff, so if I find the parts, he'll do the repairs for me for cheap... Then I'll likely redo the whole paint professionally....

So what is exactly the best way to handle the assurance?

From what I understand, I already told them I didn't want the car to be written off -- in that case I'd have to ask for a payment in Lieu -- so should I tell MY assurance I'll deal with the third party assurance and get the money from them?

I would have tried the other party to see if they would pay for repairs direct if not perhaps Massa could advise as he has just had this issue

Yes I did 15 years at Zurich. In fact I was a programmer and wrote quote systems. So I know how products are constructed, premiums are calculated and how everything is driven off actuarial probability.

But more relevant to that these days is that I'm a customer who's been on the receiving end of too much aggravation.

And a reader of many articles on how the write-off system works.

So here goes, the insurance company game me some money in Lieu, agreed NOT to CatD the car, and that's about it, I'm on my own for fixing the car up! VERY LIKELY not enough to cover all the costs, but well, better than nothing at all...

Do anyone who has clues, helps, parts, guidance please feel free to ping in -- I'm looking for at least a bonnet, a front bumper and a driver side (clear) light for a widebody.
I'm planning to buy new sills anyway, since it's being done, and will change as much as I can at the front of the car, like watepump, thermostat, idler and anything I can find a part number for!

if you guys have any suggestions, please, please ping in with part numbers and links -- that would help a LOT!

Thanks everyone -- turns out @jaguartvr is just around the corner from me, just been there and we've picked a new bonnet, front bumper, sills, light, and side panels for the car -- Also figured out how to open the bonnet and the slam panel doesn't seem to be bent -- so I'm in luck so far...

Now to get a quote for painting the new bits, but at least, here's some progress!

Great news. Some people complain about folks who build kits but there is good news for someone such as yourself.

Tony.

So, paint quote is in, and I've decided to have the whole car done -- thanks to the fact the car will be on the yard near the paint shop, we'll be able to strip everything from it and make the job easier/cheaper. Thanks to @jaguartvr setup and skills I'm going to end up with a 'new' car JUST in the insurance budget...

Ahem and he also has a pair of beige sport seats I couldn't resist :)

My car wears most of the body panels of what is now a Ferris Bueller Ferrari.
No complaints here about kits

Well silver lining and all that, as I discovered when mine was dinged by the time you’ve done the front it is 3/4 of the car so may as well crack on with the rest!

A dark colour like yours really benefits from a respray, now just the long wait ahead!
