They are a fair bit louder, but don't drone at all. They do rasp when accelerating. I enjoyed the sound but just wasn't quite bassy enough for me.

Just so you know what a "gutted" exhaust looks like, here's one I did earlier (http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=40538)

I looks a mess (but the welding is on the top and not visible on the car), but it works .

Stage 3 would be fitting a Y-shaped tube inside the box.
