Good choice @Grumpy , we had one & passed down to youngest son he thrashed it everywhere (as kids do) , never let us down & only ever failed an mot once on a track rod end.
Still had the original battery on it 14 years old, he'd still have the car if someone hadn't ass ended it at a roundabout

Picked up the new car today and have to say I am seriously impressed for a Focus. For such a small engine it tanks along really well. The drive is superb and it's so comfortable.

Now for the other bit. The Main ford dealer! What a bunch of sh***! Didn't have time to sort the problems as we had to get back but the valet was abismal and the creme de la creme was this bodge! Remember this is a Main Ford dealer. I bought the car online so not seen it until today. More than happy with it but is this how tight profits have now become? The rear reg plate has failed and instead of replacing it they have covered the faded area up with a piece of insulation tape! Of course after I put my true forum name into practice a new one is being made on Monday and sent out to me! I was in the trade for a number of years and have never seen this.

I'm sure that while margins are low that there is always some fat in the sale for them. They are just trying it on but have come unstuck having come up against you.
Brave buying it sight unseen after the problems you've had with cars recently. Hope it continues to impress.

Yes it was Ian but time is always against me with work. I basically said to check the car over and give me an HONEST appraisal. If I turn up and it isn't exactly as discribed expect serious amounts of fireworks in the middle of the showroom! It is exactly as he said except for the reg plate. A stupid move in my book. The cost to the dealer for that would be under £2!

The Focus is the little sister to Joan's Fusion over here and I think it is one of the best cars in the lineup next to the Fusion. I know a lot of people who own the Focus from the lesser accessory models to fully loaded and they all swear by them not at them! Hope this is a keeper, you've had crap luck lately and it shouldn't continue with the Focus I'd think! All we've had done was regular oil changes and summer to winter tires with a few trim pieces needing changing. Ten times better than the 05 Nissan Altima it replaced which is still sitting on my driveway, should advertise it one of these days I guess!! JIM

Ford is making a huge step up in the market after some disasters of the past! And I agree @MAURICE THE MARTIAN that they've come out with some exceptional vehicles. Most of my 4x4's have been Fords but this is the first brand new sedan we've had in the Fusion! 2ltr 385hp fully loaded and an unbelievable ride quality. Had the same in a Nissan but got stuck if there was a lump of snow in front of a wheel. Had to be towed out more in the time we drove it than in my entire driving life!! JIM

Hopefully Jim it will prove a good car. I don't imagine a 1.0 turbo will be available in the Canadian Ford range! Our friends in Dubai have a new Ford Edge 3.5 V6 which wasn't in the UK line up when they bought it. They love it, we now get the Edge over here, a 2.0 diesel! WTF!!!

Thanks Moz. I hope it's going to be a good one. At 12000 miles you'd like to think it's got plenty of life in it. It's been seviced at ford every 2700 ish miles so well looked after in that department.

I believe some of these 1.0l engines were part of a recall for a weak cooling system pipe or something. Worth checking it's been done.
