and saw this
Some poor persons Astra self combusted.

Well at least it's not a Peugeot or a renault it's usually one of them that holds up the traffic by going into self combust mode

I've never seen a car catch fire,I don't know how long it had been burning for at this stage but most of the front end was gone and the tyres had burnt away, could hear the sirens of the fire engine behind us.
Couldn't see anyone in the car luckily.

I had a car self combust - the indicator switch caught fire in a mini many years ago. It happened on bonfire night. Initially thought it was fireworks. Then it got my attention. Was just leaving work so shouted to the security guard to bring a fire extinguisher. Pulled the trigger. It was empty
Managed to get another before any serious damage was caused. Just reminded me I have a spare extinguisher to put in the Zed - but where to put it?

Fit your fire extinguishers under the drivers seat. The Z3 seats i sold to @Jack Ratt had this fitted. I know your car is a Z4 but there must be a bracket you can purchase

I was in a car once and it nearly caught fire :p
I was only about 10 and my mum had just had a new radio fitted in the car :)
We had just left the place we had it fitted ;)
My mum was really happy and then it started to spark and then smoke , we got out of the car and had to go back to the place where it was fitted :(
So really it was the radio not the car =))
Can't remember what happened after that as we got a lift home and someone brought the car back a few days later ;)

a friend of mine had a lotus Talbot that caught fire regularly or should that be regally=)) he got through about 8 fire extinguishers, he finally sold it after going into a 360 spin and ended up facing a grave yard, RIGHT THATS IT, IT HAS GOT TO GO.

Auto version of Natural Selection or the car realised the only future for it was child vomit and neglect. Took the decision to adopt the Buddhist practice of self-immolation.
