HI, i'm MIke. I live in Worcestershire, UK and bought this 2000 Z3 2.8 off ebay ( 3rd car i've bought from Ebay - all OK) . I'm a grandad and I got this toy purely for myself ( my wife has bad back , dodgy knees) .Previous owner bought it from insurance co. and got it back on the road ( explains why I could afford it). Don't have any pics yet ( although i've owned it for a few months now), but its lovely. I joined you guys a couple of months ago and read all I could to understand how to fix a couple of issues I've got. To be honest I don't have time to go rallying or whatever, my pleasures in owning this car will be mainly fixing it and the occasional drive.
I originally started looking for an old MX5 but I soon realised that the chances of finding a non-rustbucket at a reasonable price was non-existent. Then I discovered these Z3s and fell into old-car heaven.
OK , now to my main issue - Airbag light. It was on when I bought the car - guy said garage had fixed it ( had very recent MOT) but it had since come on again ??????. I've tried finding out what it is, first with a B800 (yelow box) reset tool - wouldn't communicate with car ( OBDii or round socket) . Then I bought an Autel AL619 but that didn't get me to the airbag stuff. Finally I went nuclear and got INPA. With INPA I can read engine , transmission etc but won't access airbag ( error IFH 0009). I checked the airbag fuses ( based on fuse location card 40,41?) but all OK) and visually checked out the rest. So , please, any ideas??

My airbag light went off when I accidentally unplugged one of the seat belt tensioners. Drove me nuts until I found it and was able to reset the system.

Not sure if you have done any work but there are plenty of air bags and connections to check.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Are you trying to connect your scanner through the port under the bonnet or the one inside to cabin? My car is pre facelift and I don't have the in-car port so I have to connect through the large round OBD port. The B800 scanner works fine on mine. You will need to get the adapter cable to use the under bonnet round port. They are only about £5 on Ebay .

Hi @Cx5001, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. Almost certainly going to be the connector under one of the seats. You'll only get access to the airbag module from the 20 pin connector under the bonnet. To clear the airbag light from within INPA you have to select 'E36 Body', then double click 'AIRBAG'. HTH.
