After ordering 2x Leather Sofas from SofaWorks back in December we have refused Delivery Twice due to them being Manufactured wrong. Back Cushions around 2.5cm to far to the left, we were told at the time that the one in the showroom was not right but the ones we would receive would not be like that. Had notification from Sofaworks to tell us they are all built that way so offered a full refund and took it. We then looked at all the retail outlets and have worked out ignore the Salesman and if it is wrong when its in the showroom then it will be wrong when it arrives.
Every sofa we liked had issues with. DFS one did not have enough filling and the guy told us if we wanted versace quality we would have to pay versace prices. Scs leather looked a bit low quality.
We are paying quite a bit for the Sofas so we just want them to be of the Quality you would expect.
We did notice that all the best Sofas quality wise were the Italian made ones and one shop told us that would be the best way to go. But we did not like the UK Sofas that were on offer. So now we have no sofas as our original ones we got rid the day the new sofas would of arrived.
We have now gone direct to an Italian Manufacture and should get delivery in the next 5 weeks.
So now we are on these till they arrive. Kim was thinking of buying a sofa till the new ones arrived but i said it would be too much hassle.
So no comfort for us for 5 weeks

I'm sure your sofas will be worth the wait :p
Have you got a TV in your bedroom :)
If so lounge about on your bed :)
That's what I'd do ;)

We have shelly but not got sky up there. We did have a loz this afternoon as sitting on the Patio Chairs is bloody uncomfortable after a while. Quite comfy when drinking beer having a bbq but too cold to sit out at night :(

We had bother with a dfs sofa some years back. The main back cushions were filled with what they call "hollow fibre" and frankly its cheap sh***. Lost all body and went completely flat in a matter of weeks. A lot of the main stream sofa firms like dfs, scs etc have their stuff made by white meadow furniture just down the road from us. Mass produced as usual. We broke a dfs sofa up a few weeks back to get it out the house to make room for a new one and was gob smacked what it was made of. Mainly MDF board and industrial staples! I think you've done the right thing mate going abroad. If it's a dear purchase you want it to last.

This is what we are buying

But we are having them in white and 2x 3 seaters and built using the higher grain leather and they also worked out near to the price we were looking at delivered. Mind it was a challenge trying to communicate through email in Italian. Thanks Google Translate

Very nice mate.

We think so. The backs fold down and they are around 6cm longer than the ones sold over here. The other one we looked at was 16cm longer but was not as high at the back

Very very nice :p
Will be well worth the wait :)

It's disappointing that when you ask for quality you are almost frowned upon!

We too bought a DFS sofa a few years back, a load of cr&p and as you said cheaply built. Never again.

If everything works out alright with these then this is what we will do in future. Just last month we bought a Sideboard direct from Germany and it worked out £30 cheaper for the exact same one that was being sold over here.
What everyone forgets is that all these companies import the furniture and then usually put a 35% mark up on top

Fair point Bill. We tend to go for convenience tho.

The last sofas my ex bought us was just under £5k. Hand made to order from Italy, walnut with the highest quality cow skin. You get what you pay for though, the quality was superb and I got rid of the last piece 15 years after we bought it and there wasn't anything wrong with it.

The most annoying thing was she reversed my company car in to a brand new Ford in the furniture showroom car park. I think she did it to distract me from the cost of the sofas though, bogged me down in lots of paperwork for a week or so :(

This is exactly what we do,ask in the uk first but shop around until you get what you want Estonia for our log houses.but should we support the UK economy and workers? They look really nice @hard top looks like a prison bunk lol

I would buy over here if they could match the quality and price from abroad. Sofaworks, sofaitalia and a lot of the other companies that do not manufacture their own sofas buy them from china and other places (that is Fact) . The Violino range sounds Italian but is in fact made in china.
The sofas we have seen so far are not acceptable to us, hence why we have gone direct to Italy.
Like Grumpy said we buy as close to us as possible as it is convenient to us.
But i am not like that. a week ago we drove to Durham to look at a range of Sofas in a warehouse but i considered them expensive for what i had seen on Italian websites. I will only know if it was the right thing to do when they come.

Did I spy a cat scratching post in your first pictures @billz Bill?
We wanted a suite with recliners couldn't find a cloth one we liked so went for leather, told by the salesman that cats do not like leather, lying toad :ymdevil:
Despite having a scratching post which they do use they love sleeping on the backs of the chairs. When they half wake up and start to slip out come the claws to save themselves, I don't think I need to say any more apart from Dave @Mint can I please please can I have a new suite :)
I suppose throws will be the answer but a shame to cover your lovely leather suite :(
And before anyone says it getting rid of the cats is a big no no :p

You did spot the scratching post. We have bought throws which will match the sofas. Lucky for us the cat likes our knees more than the tops and arms of sofas, she never caused any damage to the ones we have just got rid of, so here is hoping she follows the same trait when the new ones arrive

They look rather large Bill. Hope you don't have to send them back cos they wont come through the door.:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:
I'm sure you will be ok though.:)

No problem them fitting through the door Brian. Patio doors and i only have 1 internal door downstairs which leads to the stairs, thats the beauty of open plan
