Fits perfect just doesn't seem quite right but I can't quite put my finger on it =))View attachment 25505
When I was over there in September, my rental was a Skoda diesel. I had never heard of the name of the car before this. @miller1098 told me that years ago they weren't very good cars but that the newer ones were much better. @t-tony posted a pic several threads back of the 13 Sept. meet. The pic is of the parking lot with all our Zs but the car in the front of the pic parked by itself is my rental Skoda............
PS. While viewing this pic, I just couldn't help notice just how well lined up the Zs are on the field. Nice job boys and girls. I think it says something well about our members!!!!!!!

It seemed to be a nice car that handled well and got good mileage. I had no problems with it. I had to remember to turn off the feature that shuts off the engine when you come to a stop. What a pain in the a@@ that is!!. Frankie

I seem to recall the old Skoda Estelles' had some success in ralllying. Didn't they have double wishbone suspension all round?

Also recall seeing the Skoda works rally team roll a Felicia on its side, resting on a spare wheel between the ground and the roof gutter while they worked on the underneath! When Skodas were Skodas!

One of my neighbours used to have a Skoda Estelle convertible. These are quite rare cars now. I haven't seen one for years. I think the last one I saw was on the annual "Run to the Sun" in Newquay which is predominantly a VW run

You could have the engine out of the back of the old Skoda's to change a clutch in 45 mins, probably more like 10 mins on a rally prepared car!. Much better cars than a Lada, Moskvich, FSO. etc.

When I worked on them (Lada's) these were my worst nightmare Mike. The only thing that made me cringe more was the HORRIBLE Tata pick ups. What a peice of crap they were.
The best range at this place were the Proton cars, very good cars.

Had a Lada in 81 that went 150thousand miles with virtually zero repair but the body rusted off so gave it to a friend who transplanted the motor and drove it another hundred thousand before selling it. And averaged 62 mpg. Very primitive but it was just a point A to B car to get us to work and back. Never had a better car for a heater also! JIM
