Good Cars Spoiled by the Types who Drive Them!

Future Classics, now there is an interesting proposition. For me there are a few contenders, from current(ish) vehicles here are a couple:
Toyota GT86 or better still the Subaru BRZ equivalent
VW Up GTI
Abarth 500
Suzuki Jimny
Porsche Caymen (6 cylinder boxter models)

Slightly older cars
Jaguar XJ8
Jaguar XK8

Just some ideas of mine, so my starter for 10 - ready for the abuse now ;-)

GT86/Subaru BRZ good shout and the Jags not sure about any of the others.

Jags - yep, got to love a Jag, only had one 2001 3.0 Xtype 4wd (I know it is a Mondeo but with that Jag Engine it was brilliant).
GT86/BRZ - yep, driven the GT86 and whilst not ultra-fast, the handling was perfection.

When you see some lovely XJ's with the sweet V8 motor, for relatively little money, I wish I had more space and a more understanding wife

My last car was a X Type Diesel Estate, brilliant car, not fast but really frugal ang comfy, like driving an armchair.

Previous to my E85 Z4 I had a Z3 and a VW Touareg 2.5 TD. Probably the best car I ever had.

Here's a couple of oddball suggestions for future 'classics' :-
1) Ford Ka, especially the Sportka. Fords, particularly the mundane models, generally have a hard life, get used up and thrown away. When they've nearly all gone people get all nostalgic and suddenly want them again. Given the rate at which the Ka rusted away, good ones will soon be like unicorn droppings.
2) Rover 75. Not to everyone's taste but a pretty good effort from BMW owned Rover. I had a 2.5 Connoisseur SE and it was one of the nicest driving cars I've owned. Again, good ones are already thin on the ground.

Eek! Orange Marina, nearly choked on my coffee.

Makes you wonder what pile of poo / common car we are driving around in now that will be a future classic? There may not be so many of these "modern classics" in future as rust tends not to be such an issue as the old Fords/Vauxhall/BL stuff, so more of the modern cars will remain on the road reducing rarity. Can you picture a Focus ST as a future classic?

Might have to start another "Future Classics" thread:

Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo - had one of these, hand-built by Pininfarina, superb car and went like a rocket.
Z3 - M version for sure, breadvan if you like the shape, other models maybe.
Alfa GTV 3.0 if they have not all rusted away.
Honda S2000

We are keeping hold of SWMBO's 2006 Mercedes CLK280 Cabriolet (80k miles) as pretty much all of it's predecessors have become collectible classics, worth about £4000 max at the moment on a good day. A lot of car for that money.

Difficult to think of many "Future Classics" excluding the exotica.

Fiat Panda 4X4 (find a good one)
Alfa Romeo 66
Lexus LS 400
Citroen CX (series 1 will be super rare) (Want one)
Citroen XM (had one - lovely car but it spent more time with Citroen than me)

Good call on these. We can probably add the Ford Puma and Ford Cougar to this.

I'm with you on the 850R, Alfa 66 (add the 164 also), LS400.
