Hi guys and girls, ive just bought the diff from this car as mine pood itself on the M55 a month ago, I knew it was on the way out, but it just literally gave up when i hit "70 ish" ;) ... anyways, have a look, gave me a good price for a relatively low mileage diff and I took it. Its just arrived, so time to fit it now!

have a look :)

oh and guess how much BMW want for a new diff..... ill give you the answer in a bit if you don't already know haha

I wouldn't be surprised if BMW price a new (remanufactured?) diff over £2K.

good guess, ill let a few more people have a go, Ill give you a clue though... they are made to order in Germany

Could take a while for it to be delivered then. Upside is it would come with a 2 year warranty I suppose.
As an aside, has your 2.8 done mega mileage? I thought these diffs are normally all but indestructible, clearly I am wrong!

Im guessing it would! yeah I believe mine was abused by a previous owner, mine has 120k on it. Im thinking it had a leak at some point and lost fluid and was driven around with a low oil level, thus wearing out the gears. and you can not get parts for it. believe me I've tried hah.

It has had a new drive shaft at some point, so i don't really know what happened or when. there was little to no paperwork when i bought it.

solid car though and really nice interior and exterior. Done plenty of work. this will be the last big job :)

Car looks great, low mileage for year. Hopefully you are now sorted, well done.

£2750 and thats cheap:whistle:

few more guesses, winner will get a free nothing sent to them in the post :p
