There's a place just north of here just into Scotland where people flock from the world over due to the lack of man made light at night. Better for observation etc. You been?Yes they are - thank you. Some of my better images taken up there
I've heard of such places but not been there. We were down on the Dorset coast a short while ago. Very little light pollution there too. There's a place just north of here just into Scotland where people flock from the world over due to the lack of man made light at night. Lived on the most northerly of the Shetland Islands (Unst) for a couple of years some years ago and been down the Falklands 5 times, photographers paradise I suspect. A bit remiss of me but I have been to Scotland for 6 hours on business once in the last twenty plus years. I must try harder!
Cornwall, lovely place full stop.@Redline and @Andy McDonnell Cornwall is great too for low light pollution. When the street lights go out it's black as a bag around here.
On clear nights it's a sight to behold for a star gazer. Jill's mom used to love to sit outside looking at the sky. I thought she was nuts, but it turns out she loved the stars
If you want to see something just truly amazing - Get the Bins out and look at the sky at night. Just phenomenal how many stars there are up there.@Redline and @Andy McDonnell Cornwall is great too for low light pollution. When the street lights go out it's black as a bag around here.

Indeed - We are truly blessed with our countryside and coast.Cornwall, lovely place full stop.
I can see why the west coast causes you no problems then. As soon as I retire I'll be off....Lived on the most northerly of the Shetland Islands (Unst) for a couple of years some years ago and been down the Falklands 5 times, photographers paradise I suspect. I'd darn near kill to have roads like that around me to drive on regularly! I get a choice of three highways or gravel roads! JIM
@oldcarman there you go JIM, couple of shots of the Hard Knott Pass just down the road. A proper Zed road. One of many in my locality.I'd darn near kill to have roads like that around me to drive on regularly! I get a choice of three highways or gravel roads! JIM

I think there might be a few of us sharingThanks @Andy McDonnell, you wouldn't have an extra stall in a barn I could permanently move into would you? Would also save me shipping TOO! To Canada and I'd finally have someone to run with, drink beer with, etc, etc. JIM
