GET IT CHECKED

I lost my best friend to prostate cancer on 22 Dec last year. The guy I was rebuilding the Topaz Blue 2.2 Z3 for.

He set up the Loganberry Trust to pay for PSA tests. He'd already saved the life of more than 1 person by the time he died. Literally, the people wouldn't have known otherwise. The trust continues. In fact I was talking about it with his widow last night.

I had my new PSA results in on Tuesday and they are down from 5.4 to 4.2 and according to the Dr it will be higher with having the Catheter in so i would presume it is around 4 or below. I also believe losing over a stone in weight will also be a major factor to the drop.
So all in all i think i have a case for not under going surgery and feel they should start me on Finasteride and monitor how it goes. It does state that the operation would be the next stage if the medication did not work, but as i have never been put on it i think they should start me there

I too had to chase and chase the Nhs hot in for a op but finding the aftercare has been a nightmare back in Tuesday.
Hoping for a different sling/ support as the nerve is damaged the sling plays havoc with the wrist !!.
Heres hoping:thumbsup:
Hope all goes well @billz its heading in tbe right direction :)

That's crap @billz. That's a long stint with the pipe in. Mine was in a week or so and I'd had enough by then.

I am going to call them on Tuesday and ask to be but on a TWOC Trial without catheter and also be put on the Finasteride. Should save the cost of a consultaion

I have had one down the old chap as well, can't remember much about it though, I was spaced out on morphine.
I was mate when they put it in, didn't feel a thing, taking it out...........:wideyed:

taking it out...........:wideyed:

Can't remember that either.
They would just come in and give you a cup full of pills, did not have any idea what the hell I was taking?
Started binning them and then things did start getting a bit sore.
Did not bother me though.

Hope you get it sorted sooner rather than later billz, souds like you've been through the mill. Hope your grandchild is ok too. I Never go to the doctors until it's worse than it should be and you've certainly opened my eyes, shame the NHS is suffering to the point that the less well off amoungst us have no choice but to think of going private.

Get well soon mate.
Roy.

Didn't feel a thing when the nurse removed my catheter after my heart operation to be honest.

Tony.

Spark out when it went it Jim.

Tony.

I was fully awake when they put it in and i even said to the Dr is that it. Hardly felt a thing the only time i en counted any pain was after about 15 minutes once it had almost emptied my bladder as the neck of the bladder then tried to force the balloon out and that was the worst most uncomfortable thing i have ever felt.

Well i managed to persuade the Consultants Secretary to get my appointment moved from 8th June and had it today. Now i have to wait for an appointment to have a TWOK Trial Without Catheter. So nothing will be happening untill then when i have to go into Hospital for the day and have the Catheter removed andthen spend the day to ensure i can pee properly un aided. If i can then i can then dispose of the Catheter and go home if not then i have to have an operation on my Prostate

At least that's progress of one form or another Bill. Hope all goes well mate.

Tony.

Well i was quite surprised today. Got my appointment through to have my Trial Without Catheter which will be done on Thursday. So hopefully if i can pee properly throughout the day i will no longer need to have the Catheter in. But if i can not pee normally and empty my bladder then i will have to have a new Catheter fitted and an operation on my Prostate. Which could take 18 weeks and a further 8 weeks recovery

@billz well here's hoping it all goes well then pal. I've just turned 60 and I've already had my invite come through for a prostate check and an invite to take part in a bowel cancer screen trial.
