I’d gladly pay the price it cost but I’m miles away on Kent, I need to ring Soper in Lincoln who give a discount.

At £56 this is a decent price as aftermarket may suppliers want around that for a proper quality one (the ones for £20 wear too quick, ok for a year or two max it seems).
