It only cost me 75 pence for the wire wheel brush, I was only down their to change both wishbones but it kept looking at me so had to be done

That's the problem with them. It's a drug you have to keep tinkering with them.

Hope you used a mask though, in a serious note, that alloy dust isn't good for your chest.

What a surprise that is!!!!! You've given me an idea. My valve cover looks old. When some members lift their bonnet, the valve cover looks new with that BMW logo on it. Mine looks like the 22 year old piece of matal that it is. I don't know if there is a way to restore it but I could try doing what you've done..........................Frankie
