On a warm engine we did a compression test and all 4 cylinders were running at 175psi
Also got the fuel filter changed and the brake fluid.
Despite the brake fluid being relatively clean there was some air in the system and after flushing the system and filling it with new fluid the brakes definitely feel sharper. Not massively but there is a noticeable difference.
Tomorrow I'll do the compression test with a cold engine.
Also @t-tony let me know how heavy that fuel filter feels
Once again thank you so much for your help today, you're a star.
I'm just waiting to get a second car now, hopefully within the next month, maybe a Polo like @GazHyde has once I do I can leave the zed with you, loads better than trying to change them in one day.
Not brilliant news @Antm72 but it raises the question as to why it's fine on a warm engine. As said above results were 175 PSI across all cylinders when the car was warm.
My plan was to drive the car for a more weeks until I get another car so I can put this one away and get to the bottom of the problem, however, the plug in cylinder 4 has popped out whilst driving so many times that the threads in that cylinder are ruined and I can't tighten the plug down anymore.
On your plug you can't tighten just wondering if the thread has worn so bad that some swarf has got in the bore causing your misfire. You need to check and vacuum out with a skinny rubber pipe on a vacuum.
Remove any swarf that has got in the bore.
Then try a Heli Coil.
Cheers Cliff.
Thanks for that Cliff. It's incredibly irritating that this happened on Sunday and that I need to get back to work tomorrow I cannot find any shop that sells heli coil.
