I'm gonna change the gearbox oil on my 97 2.8 Z3 I got underneath to check the label & it's an orange one with ATF printed on it? So I need Auto transmission fluid in my manual box?? Is that right? If so is there any preference on which brand to use? TIA, Steve

I got mine from Opie oils.

Just looked up the bill mine used was Fuchs ATF 5005.
Just done mine with Redline from Opie. Also changed the diff oil with Syntax (I think it is?) whilst I was underneath.
I didn't write Syntax obviously.....
Yes I'm gonna do the diff as well
got Castrol oil recommended here coming for that

The above is the recommended option by Opie for ATF They give good advice by vehicle type to be fair when they could just sell you any brand. Used this in my M

Mine was from Opie oils. Syntrans for the box and syntrax for the diff.
How do you guys get recommendation for gearbox oil from opie? I entered BMW/Z3/99/2.8 and the menu for 'products' doesn't mention gearbox or diff oils at all...
I took the easy option. Sent email containing all details of my car ( vin number ect) and what oils I was looking for Tim came back very quickly
