I replaced mine last summer as it suffered like ones the posted, looking really tatty.

Likewise I thought £72 was a bit steep for a gear knob!!
I went for a cheaper option of the leather gear knob without the M badge for around £27.
You can see this amongst my other goodies I replaced. I was still pleased with the quality and knew I would not get in trouble with "M" police!!

To answer the other question they are removed by just giving it a good yank upwards and it should come off, be careful not to punch yourself in the face during the process!!:inpain:

Hi Sean
Sorry for slow reply but been out.
I got mine from Benham Wolverhampton on Ebay 2nd October 15 £7.88 inc. postage.it was the best price that I could find and good quality. Much cheaper than a new knob.

@Geoff Crispin, do you know if the E36 badge fits the Z3, they are coming up as non compatible.

Thats great thanks Geoff, just put the number in real OEM and it gives the same models as the one advertised on ebay but for some strange reason doesn't list the z3 just the z1

Yes it took me a while to find it, but it pays to look at all the sites, I picked up chrome side air vents for £25 in good condition
and an American roll bar for £40 and new BMW bonnet and wheel badges for peanuts (so to speak)
