Today , after remortgaging the house:eek:, I have paid all the companies I have been dealing with, for everything needed to complete the first 100 sets.
I know the material has been ordered and I have been promised that they will start work as soon as the material arrives to them. They will then give me a delivery date for the finished product. Having dealt with subcontractors for 40years, I know it will be the painters who will cause a delay, if anyone does !!!!

The rubber cushioning will be slit down from a larger roll and will be about 4-5 days. Its from a company along the coast from me, so I will collect it.
Everything else I need will be delivered within 2 days to me.

After being a Buyer/Purchasing Manager/Materials Manager with various electronic company's for 40 years,
and for all that time spending someone else’s money, it comes as a bit of a shock actually spending my own =))

One thing I must add, if you own an ‘M’ version car with the additional lower strap, you will need an additional part which will have to be fixed to the smaller strap, which itself will need two additional countersunk holes added.
I am working on a small spacer support block that can be just screwed on.
Just need to get some dimensions and need to contact a couple of people to get it sorted.
Sorry ‘M’ owners, I completely forgot about it and was only reminded the other day.

But on the bright side....if it turns out that no-one wants to buy any....... they wont be wasted ..
I will just have to buy myself 100 Z3’s !!!!

Hi all. I don't often visit here but feel compelled to by your work Mazza - fantastic stuff and I'll be in the queue - I think demand is gonna be considerable!
I barely dare look at my straps although I've had no MOT advisories. Can't believe that BMW discontinued manufacture of such a critical component.
Well done again!

Mazza,

Echoing others here, your refurb thread is a great read and learning resource.

My car is on the ramps today getting a new water pump fitted and the mechanic grumbled something about the tank straps needing to be replaced. Please can i add my name to the list. Thank you

After my Z3 has been sat in the garage for nearly 1.5 years and and SORNED for for this period, it had its MOT today and passed with only a couple of advisories in regards to things starting to perish on the front suspension. However there was a discussion of the tank straps looking tired and should possibly be replaced.

So on this basis can I please also be put on to the list for a set when they are completed.

One step closer today....
19807029-901C-4B12-BFF1-2073F16512C2.jpeg

Collected the 35mm wide rubber cushion today. So I now have everything to hand except for the actual metal work.

Boxes,
Bubblewrap
Poly bag
Cable tie base( push in )
Cable tie
M6 Nyloc nuts
M6 Washers
35mm rubber strip

I better include an basic instruction guide ( something like, take old ones off, fit new ones =)))

Sorry M owners....not sorted the additional support block yet , but on it.
