So much choice.

I remember 2,3 and 4 star petrol

Well the problem with the octane choice is quite small compared with the ethanol in the gasoline! That E10, with 10% ethanol, is really bad. Luckily BMW says it's ok in our engines, but for cars stored over winter isn't good. It loosing octane, collects water and work on corrosion.
The worst pain is with carburetor cars and bikes...a real disaster!:(
Can you get somewhere, anywhere in UK gasoline ethanol free?

99 is still the best ;)

We'll be onto green shield stamps next:whistle:

There was a store in Donny, at the Arndale Centre? where you could redeem them. We used to go to Markham Moor and shoot up the A1.

Tony.

I can remember them too

Still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. My mum used to get quadruple stamps somewhere and I had to lick them and stick in the book. Urg!

Getting back to the thread....When I had my first mini, I used to get 3 gallons of 91octane from a Jet garage and get 1p change from a pound note.
This is the only picture that I have of my first car.....

As you can see being smacked up the back is nothing new !!!!!
It was a write off as subframe bent.

Where the caravan place is, up the road from me opposite the Swan, there used to be a garage. My brother worked there, they used to give Green Shield stamps ...................................

Back when I had my Min, there was usually too much week for the money and I borrowed a quid from me mam on a Thursday night. A gallon of the cheap stuff, 10 fags (Players No.6) and a couple of pints. Lovely. Beer was about 15NP a pint then.

Tony.

I can remember when it was a fresh bucket of water and a bag of oats
