Just a quick question,
I'm renewing my front suspension, shocks and control arms, brakes and tierods.
Everything has been stripped out, reuseable parts rust treated and painted, ready for assembly.
My question is, do I need to use threadlock on any of the bolts ? I only ask as some of the removed bolts appear to have some sort of blue coating on them that could be old threadlock, but all the videos I've watched don't mention it's use.

Hi, Just looked through Bentleys on all the front steering and suspension sub assemblies and only found one mention of the use of thread-lock on the front strut bolts.
It also says replace any self locking nuts.

Thanks for that Mazza.
They are the bolts I was questioning.
All bushes came with new nyloc nuts bushes so OK there.
The other bolts I was wondering about are the two which carry the control arm bushing which attaches to the chassis.
By the way, fitted my Mazza straps, that you supplied, great job, thanks Ken

Hi Ken,
Just checked in the manual re bolts for the control arm bushing, and no mention of using threadlock. Also they are just standard bolts so ok to reuse.

Just to confirm what Mazza said, if reusing the beefy bolts attaching the hub, apply threadlock. I replaced these with new ones from BMW and they had thread-lock pre-applied

I also replaced the control arm to chassis bolts with new BMW ones and they didn’t have thread lock on them
