Front spring Sports Z3 HELP

Hi folk,
I just pulled the front legs apart to replace the struts and can not get them back on does any body have a solution, I desperately need the car up and running by W/end & Based in Salford Manchester

Car is a 2002 2.2i with Sports springs. or it had !!!

Simplest option might be to take all the bits to a local garage and ask them to rebuild them for you.

Yep but they don't have the reach, worked getting them off too short to replace.

I have recently put new springs on my front struts and it is hair-raising to say the least. I used four of the screw type spring clamps and it was still very tricky getting the spring short enough to enable the top nut to be screwed on. Just thinking of the amount of stored energy in the compressed spring makes me weak at the knees. If you can find a garage to do it for you, that's by far the best option.

Thanks Mike, I know just what you mean, bit different to MG midgets or the GT both of which I used to own, also and strangely enough I had a Dolomite sports stollen from my front door we seem to have very similar taste.
I have now found a garage to do the refit for me but have decided against using one or both of the top spring plate's but with Soper's shut don't know where to get one ? quickly that is -- they seem to have loads in Latvia but 2 week delivery

I have been to euro car parts but they do not seem to be listing mine, but there again, I don't know the correct catalogue number for the part, I can see one that looks just right but a warning to check part fitting came up.

I can help with that. BMW on ebay currently have a sale on and they are only £7.55 ea. Bargain at that price. I just ordered 4 and got free postage as well.

I'll post a picture of my spring compressor tomorrow. I never compress just the spring but place the lower cup inside the compressor, much easier.

Well a final for note, The car is now up and running again with new disks, callipers and pads on front plus 2 new struts and top plates.
So my dear wife is happy she can get to work again without any trouble,
Just wanted to thank every one who replied and gave me the benefit of their advice and expertise much appreciated, It's great to have a forum like this to back up my limited prowess So thanks again and keep up the good work, regards Frank
