Yes Mike I would certainly agree with your comment for those conditions. If I were to be planning a trip which involved high air temperatures and altitude I would put a new viscous fan on. For my UK use I was happy to delete it on my otherwise standard M52B28TU engine.When I did the cooling sysem on mine 2 years ago I replaced the water pump. thermostat, tensioner and belts. The pulleys and fan were just thoroughly inspected.
I would be reluctant to do the fan delete as if the car is used as intended you can encounter some pretty hot conditions. 4 years ago, I was stuck in a traffic queue in Switzerland for 2 hours in 35 degree heat the temperature behaved perfectly. I wouldn't like to do that with no fan.![]()
