Thanks Tony. I may look for a rear set too. Thi$ is fun! Looks like the e46 325ci rear brakes will not work for z3.

The thing with rear brakes is that they house the parking brake arrangement inside the centre drum. Maybe you could fit an electric parking brake calipers such as the E89 has? Personally I would see about some brakes with vented rear discs for a Z3.

Tony.

Good morning gents. I have enjoyed this forum! So much information. I know nothing about brakes and wasn’t planning to upgrade. However this popped up on FB marketplace and are very close for easy pick up. This is a front brake set up off a e46 325ci. Is this one a direct fit upgrade to my 1997 2.8? If so $100 seems like a smart buy? Any thoughts?
Cheers.
Good Evening

I don't believe this is the set needed if the upgrade is to the 300mm front brake disc rotor 'mod'. The 'special' part needed to make this happen is the brake caliper carrier. The one pictured looks too short to be for the 300mm kit and is likely the 280mm standard 6 cylinder combination.

If this is the intended mod, the carrier needed is cast with '505' in the middle of the carriers flat edge. These are usually found on e46 328i BMW and z4 2.5i.
