You only need one wheel speed sensor to be faulty to have the ABS light on.

Throttle pot. Not sure. I wouldn't rule it out as the ASC & ABS are linked together. The ASC will take control of the throttle during activation and over-ride the signal from the throttle pot. Anyhow you should fix that, although I'd do the wheel sensor first to see if the error goes away (don't think it will).

Ok things get stranger. I plugged back in this afternoon and did the VIN search and it pulled the VIN connected ok and I could see the ABS codes. Here is what I had after clearing and restarting the car:
52 DTC speed signal front right (electrical fault)
D1 Throttle Potentiometer electrically faulty
52 is pretty obvious a sensor issue (have a new set on their way) but anyone know what a D1 is? Is a D1 a reason for the ABS light to be on or ABS to not work?
Your ABS light will be on because of the wheel speed sensor being faulty.

Also the TB might just need a clean, they throw up a fault when they get sticky.

Yep same here Lee, Carly has become a pain in the arse, been looking at the NT530 as it also covers the e89.

All the Zeds including the Z8 up to the E89

The NT510 also does the E89 Niall. I have found a place where I can buy the NT510 for £105 ($129 - reduced from $149) and free shipping. The NT520 as far as I can discern is the same as an NT510 with the latest updates. The one I'm looking at has free lifetime upgrades too.

I think I may buy one next time I'm over there.

Tony.

ps. I found this as well.

Hmmm info on their site said the only one that read up to the e89 was the 530, or I read it wrong. Was sure it said youd have to purchase upgraded software for the 510 and 20

I'm sure my NT520 covers the E89. You'll probably find that every time BMW release new models Foxwell will upgrade their scanners too. I'll plug it in later and have a look at the menu

Thanks Gary, as said I'm sure it said you needed to pay for upgraded software and that worked out more expensive than buying the 530

When you buy it and register it with Foxwell you are able to download any available free upgrades. You only have to pay if you need to download a different manufacturer.

I'm thinking about downloading the Honda proramme as I now have an Honda Accord. It will cost me about £50

When mine was on and whilst being serviced by BMW, they discovered it was the ABS unit had gone and needed replacing.

my foxwell tool got from obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/foxwell-nt530-scanner.html, although the NT510 and NT520 now discontinued and is replaced with the NT530,But NT520 NT510 has the same BMW program as the NT530. the old NT510 nt520 also get free BMW updates as and when they are published.
