Thought I would ask on here before I buy a new one..

Been having good conversations with a valued member on here about my airbag light problem and has been giving me some very valuable information to do with it.

Now my next move is to buy one of these hand heads to see if I can now get to the route cause

So if you are thinking of selling please let me know

thanks

Tony

Have a new and unused one. Took weeks from paying to actually get it and cannot get it registered or to even work. Foxwell support were useless. Make me an offer.

So is it not working at all ? If you are struggling to get it up and running then I will be in the same boat so to speak

I have the Foxwell NT644 which covers all makes and its been a cracking bit of kit - worked out of the box on a multitude of makes and models and updates are free. BUT my research at the time suggested there were many, many Chinese copies of the Foxwell scan tools - Ebay is flooded with them - so I would be very careful where you buy from and would only buy from an official UK supplier - the market is flooded with knock offs.

I say seems to be as many Chinese sellers say they are based in the UK. Then the package arrives from China.

I always look in the seller name and address at the bottom. If it's got Chinese characters I avoid it in case.

Well unless I'm happy to wait. Nothing against Chinese stuff if it's okay and sometimes do get stuff shipped from there. But only things that can't really go wrong or are very cheap.

Gendan is one of several UK official suppliers of Foxwell scan tools (and other makes VCDS etc) that has an ebay presence. I believe Foxwell make their scanners in China and ship them with a registration code to official suppliers in the UK. To make the tool work it needs to be registered using the supplied code on line by linking it to your lap top or PC (it will then get the latest updates installed).

The genuine article gets copied in China and shipped with a fictitious registration code - the tool and the code look identical to the real thing but registering the tool normally reveals that it's a copy.

That's what I had to do (1st. paragraph) and it took me a little while but I managed it.

It's a shame these things are so difficult to get hold of and register. They're are such a good tool from what everyone says and can overcome the pre-facelift ABS issue that even INPA/BMW Scanner struggle with.

Perhaps that’s why the “proper” ones are more expensive?

You're probably right Tony. I'm used to clone INPA & BMW Scanner cables and they're probably basic enough they work just fine. I expect the C110 is widely cloned as well and is good. But the Foxwell stuff is current tech.

If I knew for sure I would be getting the original one I would order but just don’t want to take the risk... that’s why I asked here if any one was selling one before I committed my self..

wish there was another hand held I could buy knowing it’s a good one and also goin to help me find the problem with the airbag warning light

And I don’t suppose anyone that has one would possibly borrow it to me ... even if I paid a deposit for it’s safe return

don’t shoot me haha

Don't worry, we'll get you sorted with that laptop we discussed Tony. As long as you can wait a few days for captain slow to move into gear.

In different circumstances I would be encouraging you to see if someone could pop round and help you with a reader. But doesn't seem appropriate at the moment.

That's why I bought from where I did. It is genuine. Not the cheapest but . . .

I am also looking to get one of these, but I'd also like to use it for my Mercedes so was looking at the NT650, however can seem to find anyone "genuine" selling it.

The place @t-tony recommended ise selling an NT680
  • NT680 Lite: 4 systems coverage (Engine, SRS, ABS, Automatic Transmission), plus Oil service reset & EPB servicing.
  • NT680 All Systems: All systems coverage, plus Oil service reset & EPB servicing.
  • NT680 Pro: All systems coverage, plus multiple service functions including Oil, EPB, DPF, SAS, TBA and more.

And if I'm reading this right I only need the Lite version as I can have it preloaded with 2 makes, does that sound right, anyone got any experience of this model ?
