Ok i will start at the beginning, My daughter is turning 17 in a couple of weeks, so driving lessens, car for her.

At my house i have the Mercedes C class, Z3 , Triumph TR7 , and my van, all i have is a garage and a two car drive
we seen a car for her, and started to think finance, nice wee car £ 3500, insurance £1600
Driving lessens, lack of parking.

I said to my wife, " if we sell the Z3 we will get some money and have a place to park.... :bag:

She said "NO WAY !!!!"

So i agreed and we carried on looking for answers .:D

So please forgive me for having bad thoughts .

As always the Wife is the voice of reason!

Well you mustn't cross the misses. Welcome from London

That was a near miss!
I can imagine the response if I suggested selling a Zed!
Not mine obviously =))

We bought a 4 year old Ford KA for our youngest. 85hp - not enough to rip the skin off a rice pudding.
Paying a decent amount for the car tends to reduce the insurance. I got the first year for £1000 with Admiral on a none telematics policy. It came down £400 on renewal. Expecting a further reduction this year. Shop around for insurance - there are some cheaper options on decent policies.

Solved the parking problem for £100. I put plastic reinforcement matting on the grass. Can park a car on it when needed. The grass grows through it. Just cut it as normal. Will take it up when it’s no longer needed. A lot cheaper and less permanent than ripping the garden up for paving etc.

I know it sounds a bit extreme but when my daughter was 17 I bought her a brand new corsa the deal at the time came with insurance and a life time warranty as long as she owned the car and had vax hall service it the car way shopping around was cheaper than buying a 3 year old second hand one with the insurance cost etc etc

Sounds silly but adding yourself or wife to insurance as second driver with your daughter also brings it down in price. Also newer car often cheaper for insurance

Bought my daughter a 850cc classic BL mini as a first car. No driver aids etc and she learned how to drive and look after a car properly. Changed after a couple of years into a MGBGT. She now has an E36 touring and is accident less (touch wood) 15 years later.:)

Yes - I should have said that too. I'm on the policy as a named driver. Found that a third driver adds cost beyond that.

Well that was bloody silly
I think you need to take yourself to the bottom of your garden and give yourself a darn good talking to. ;):D:D
