Golf commentaries will never be the same for me. He was so knowledgeable about the game and always able to put a comical quip into his description of the action or the watching spectators. All his commentaries carried out without notes as well.

Same here Tony, I am not really a golf fan but I used to watch just to enjoy his commentary. I remember he had his own program for a while where he chatted to a celeb on the way round a golf course. I think it was called “A Round with Aliss”.

He did Tony, and I watched some of those. He was a commentator who drew you into his world and made it interesting. His knowledge of the game was immense.
