This is the stage I like to call everything is rusted together and rounded

IMG_20200607_143013.jpg

Left rear won't come apart which is really annoying considering the copper pipe was replaced in Sept...

IMG_20200607_143033.jpg

Right rear 2nd hose to pipe... I've gone from the 11mm spanner, to deep socket and once those have rounded it off tried to grip with mole grips and it won't budge.

I have tried turning it the other way just to be sure and giving it a few taps with a hammer to loosen it up but alas there's a frustration dent in the garage floor

Now that is cut can you not just slide out the retaining clip and pull it free?

The retaining clip is kept in by the nut on the male thread and the clip attached to the car is keeping the nut from the hose from pulling through. I'll have a play around and see if I can get it out
Try a careful bit of heat to crack loose the nut ?

I've got a hair dryer, not sure that'll get it hot enough :D
Doubt it you need a electric heat gun
A friend with an MGBGT was replacing his brake lines and used my heat gun that you can solder copper pipes with

Well I've had some success today.

The braided line and new copper pipe (which I'd twisted hence needed to replace) are together!

Still can't get the pipe to 2nd hose undone but it's a start.

It feels like it's turning a quarter of a thread each time I put 100% effort into undoing it. I don't think it's got much left to go before it's out but it's being a right pain in the a**

Here is the 2nd hose to pipe that actually needed replacing. Can't wait till I get to the main junction of pipes =)) and then I've got to do it all again on the other side. Here's praying WD-40 and a few hours will get the job done

Can you get a spanner on nut and give a hard tap to do up then one to undo that sometimes works

You need Mole grips with flat jaws for this job mate. Ones with curved jaws are halfway to rounding things off before you start. Use flat jaws making sure you grip on the flats of the nut.

Picture the moment in the movie where the main character is down, feeling low, nothing is going their way. They go back to what they're working for to try again, not to be defeated. And things start going well...hit play on the stereotypical rock soundtrack because I got this b****y thing loose!

We're back in business! Now just another 4 or 5 to do and then I'll breath again =))

Job completed! Some lovely images from left to right of the new hoses and pipes:

I pressure bled the brakes but I was quite surprised that everything filled up really quickly and there was barely any air coming out. One caliper did have a few bits coming out but it ran clear quite quickly. No need for a full flush as the fluid was still light in colour.

Shame the mole grips worked, I was looking forward to using the mini blowtorch I bought :D

Good grief @Bringit96 ! That looks bad!!! What are you going to do to rectify the rot?

Trying not to cry to be honest. I'll get the outer sill off and have a look at the full extent of the damage but it might mean the Z3 is parked up for a while.

I'm hoping it's salvageable with a section from a donar sill but that'll have to wait.
