Good fish and chips is the food of the God's, but that is bloody expensive! Must be a real touristy spot to charge and get away with thatLook at the price of Fish and Chips in Southwold
It was a take-a-way too

. Our local chippy charge £3 for chips and fish bites or £4.50 for full fish and chips and it's delicious. I would never pay £13.50 a portion that's daylight robbery. The first time I had good fish and chips was when I worked on the cruise shp for Caesars and we stopped somewhere, I think we were on the Thames river, maybe Lands End ?, but I remember I had to take a ferry across the river to Tilbury
We have the skin on, its the most nutricious part, my dad use to cook a couple of fillets and give the flesh to the yorkshire terries and make skin sandwiches@Shelly hope you don't mind if i hijack your thread a bit( keeping on same topic
).
In Scotland when you buy fish and chips ( up here fish on it's own is a single fish and fish and chips ( or anything with chips) is a fish supper or sausage supper etc ) anyway when you get normal fish ( not a special fish in breadcrumbs) it comes battered but it's skinless and boneless.
Any time I have had fish in England it has skin on so curious now about how does your local chippy do it's fish and chips![]()
Now we are talking, Smoked salmon to die for and believe me this stuff is the best in the UK, its just won some top award and is the only place in the UK that can call its salmon cold smoked as it has the heritage stamp, we eat a lot of it and they now do mail order, Liz Hurley loves the stuff and rates it on instagram and Marco Pierre White will only use it in his restaraunt as well as the smoked salmon, I had a tour around the place a few weeks back and it hasn't changed in almost a hundred yearsThat’s a relief. Not in the market for raw fish except for smoked salmon. If there’s any reason to not eat that I’d rather not know![]()

When you come over next I'll take you and let you see the place, the owner lives across the road from me and is a top bloke, the stacks that the fish are put in have never been cleaned and have eighty odd years of tar build up, this is where the flavour comes from, it smells amazingLynne likes a nice bit of salmon Sean.
Was on the website there was good to see where they source their salmon from.![]()
We'll fix their wagon. The next time a couple of us come over to visit you, we'll go over there and order:Its become an expensive hobby over here to and I live almost on the coast, only a 15 min drive to the main port of Ijmuiden where it all comes in ....
This is what it costs to eat at one of the restaurants there called "The Head Of The Harbor" ....

You was in my neck of the woods mate, Steels is excellent and has queues throughout the summerPopped over to Cleethorpes over the weekend, went to Fish & Chip restaurant called Steels. Very nice fish. Think it was about £13 for a Jumbo Haddock & Chips. Always have good food there.
