There was a spline , socket/nut . I found the tool in the toolkit in the boot . Amazingly all tools were there and seemingly untouched .Did you have a lock nut under cap ?

We've just got back from visiting family in Australia and was using one of their BMW convertibles (318i I think) . We both loved the experience so on return started to look for a Z3 . Found one being sold by a really great guy .... and it was only fifteen miles away !
