90 mph back home, 144 kph :arghh:

It's been quite blustery here in Pompey today. Me and my mate were booked to do a structural survey on one of the big dockside cranes at Pompey docks but we weren't allowed to climb because of the high windspeeds.
Not sure what the windspeeds were today but they don't let us climb if they exceed 30mph

Strange thing is, I noticed nothing last night until I looked out the window this morning, sleep like the dead me mate.
Code Orange has just been down graded, looks like its dying down now.
We're on top of a hill with nothing between us and the Irish Sea, which is brutal! That last 'breezy' day ripped the washing line out of its post :nailbiting:

Blowing rain hard against the window last night Mike, but looking at what you had over there it's just been a windy night mate.

Tony.

Mind you it is snowing in parts of Florida today and will be near freezing till late in the week ! The weather's gone mad!

Tony.

All large Dutch storm gates closed after storm sweeps the country | NL ..

All five major storm surge gates in the Netherlands were closed in the wake of a storm that brought wind gusts as strong as 141 kilometers per hour. It is the first time all five flood defenses were simultaneously closed, the country's infrastructure agency, Rijkswaterstaat, announced on Wednesday.

Well mate, that's why they built them! New Orleans was not so lucky.

Tony.

SCHIPHOL CANCELS 150 FLIGHTS DUE TO STORM

The storm moving over the Netherlands on Wednesday already resulted in 150 canceled flights at Schiphol airport.

Schiphol canceled 75 arrivals and 75 departures. That is around 20 percent of the flights scheduled at the airport today, RTL Nieuws reports.

KLM also canceled 104 flights.

HEAVY WINDS TO RETURN BY EVENING RUSH HOUR IN ROTTERDAM; NEW WEATHER WARNING IN EFFECT:

After a brief 24-hour respite, very windy weather is expected to return to the Netherlands on Thursday afternoon, causing a challenging rush hour period in Rotterdam, Leiden, Den Haag, and Maastricht. The wind adds an extra problem where a regional public transportation strike is in effect through to 11 p.m.

Sustained winds between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour are expected in seven different provinces, triggering a Code Yellow weather warning from the national meteorological agency KNMI. Wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour may be felt during the warning period, which starts as early as 5 p.m. in the southern provinces of Zuid-Holland, Zeeland, and Limburg, ending no later than 1 a.m. the next morning.

TAGS: Rotterdam. Den Haag, Utrecht, Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland (Me), Zeeland, Flevoland, Friesland & Groningen (German border), Limburg (@DutchScorpion), Maastricht. All Code Yellow.

PS. I only post this on the forum as I know a lot of you have been on the Limborit and driven through or visited some of the places named.

Wind really picking up here now. Been pretty calm all day other than the rain.
