UPDATE: I found the fuel pump relay under the dash. When I turn the key to start, I can feel the relay click, so I figure the relay is OK. I checked and have power to the 2 fuses in the fuse box. I guess it's time to tear into the fuel pump. Next problem is the passenger seat which is stuck in the far back position. Gotta figure out how to get to the back bolts. At least the 2 front bolts came out without breaking!

As you can see the fuel was in bad shape. Also the fuel pump strainer had totally disintegrated and, I believe, turned the fuel the yellow color. The process of removing the pump and removing the seat was not as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks to descriptions in the Forum I used a drill to move the seat track and got the seat out without too much trouble----even for an old guy!
Parts are ordered and I hope the fuel pump was the problem, along with clean fuel and a new fuel filter and strainer.
