I wired mine through permanent live feed, that way you can charge something while the car is parked. Better for me on an every day use car.

Tony.

Took most of the day to fit but I wasn’t exactly rushing:)

Managed to fit a dual USB socket and a switch, run off the Cigarette lighter feed. And without removing the centre console. ( Although it would have been easier and quicker if I had!)

The switch has a red led, and the usb socket has a blue backlight.

Nothing to do with this, but the car racked up the 100000 miles at the weekend. I was going to take a picture when it did, but was on the M23, and couldn’t stop

thats a new take on a dash cam![/QUOTE]
@miller1098 had taken this picture during our trip back from California when I bought my ///M and we drove it back to Jersey. He later posted this and I think he said: What's wrong with this picture?"
To which I replied:: "I know. You can see it right away. We're driving with the top up!!!!"............Frankie

My usb volt meter arrived from China today so set about fitting it.
Decided on using the spare blank switch hole I have, pulled the radio out to get access to the rear and slightly enlarged the oblong hole to take the round usb unit using a round file. Mounted as high in the oblong hole and trimmed the swith blank cover to fill the small gap at the bottom of the usb unit. Picked up an ignition controlled live and ground off the radio loom. Just about enough room the install the unit reaching through and down the radio hole. Bit of a fiddle to get the usb unit retaining ring screwed on bu just about managed it.

Easier than trying to fit it on the curved surface opposite the Cig lighter with minimum strip down.

Yes the plug in ones are ok, I have used one before fitting the permenant one, didn't want to do away with the cig lighter one. I have a volt meter that plugs into the cig lighter so decided to fit the usb one with the voltage indicator.

would be cool to get a smaller unit and fit it into one of the blank switch panels
Looked for something suitable but couldn't find anything to fit the blank holes.
