Fifties classics - side track from L-B pictures.

Love them but what are they?? The station wagon is unique! A lot look very similar to our 50's cars just smaller. I have a 48 Anglia we'd like to put a v8 into. There are many in the USA with BBC engines crammed into them. JIM
I didn't have time to label them all mate the black one is a Wyvern, the pink one is a PA Cresta, the white one is a Zephyr 6 as immortalised in the TV series Z cars, the next black one is the Humber Hawk not sure what series but granddad had 2, the maroon car is a Ford Consul 375 Lowline, my eldest brother Steve had one, smoked my first cigarette in that car!, the long blue car is a PC Cresta followed by a PB Cresta. The estate car (station wagon) is a PC Cresta and the last one is a later series Wyvern. I saw an Anglia at the Good Guys show in Kissimmee, NICE. Over here when I weas a kid there were quite a few Ford Pilots which I assume were left after the war by American servicemen.
In actual fact I've just read that these were built in Dagenham, the original Dagenham dustbin perhaps?

We learn something every day Tony, Ford Pilot built in Dagenham, takes some believing. As for the Vauxall Wyvern my dad had one in 1964 and he taught me to drive in it, column change took some getting used to. Roy.
One of the best column changes I ever drove Roy was in a Renault 16 TX way back in the late 70's .What a car. A guy I worked with had a 16 TS that was fairly quick but the TX was something else altogether.

@Rha, by the way Roy these old Pilots were used for grass track racing many years ago around these parts and my brothers mate bought on from a village about 20 miles away and drove it home to be stripped ready for the track. He was one of the few who could keep those things running on all 8 cylinders and he was very successful with it.

Tony the Wyvern column change put me in good shape when I got lumbered to drive our Colonel's staff car, a Zephyr 4 in army green in 1971, we were one of the last to get the new Austin 1800 which at the time I rated as a good car with plenty of go. Used to drive him into London every other week end and he used to billet me in Regent's Park Barracks, what he didn't know is I used to go home to Hemel in it, but one w/end I popped into town to get my mum fish and chips, got a parking ticket and discarded it thinking no more about it, three months later I was called up to his office, got the sack as his driver and 6 week end guard duties, didn't like driving into London from Dorset anyway or taking his misses shopping and carrying her shopping around. Best Fish Chips I ever went to get. Ha ha ha.
Thanks for that Tony. They really do look lovely. I particularly like the blue saloon.
Obviously being just very slightly younger than you I admire 80''s cars. They always turn my head if I see a nice 2.8 ghia x Granada I do get far to excited. Between 18 and 21 I had various fords I could not afford to run, insure or put petrol in but I loved them!
My dad who has always believed a car is a thing you need and nothing more was running round in 1.3 ford escorts while his youngest son had.......
1st a ford capri 2.1 pinto S (very rare)
2nd a ford capri 3.0 ghia
3rd a ford cortina 2.3 ghia x (very rare)
4th a ford Granada 2.8i ghia x
To name a few! I loved them all, god I wish I still had them today.

I known exactly what you mean Dave. I once went home with a 1600 Cortina and my dad said " What do you need a 16 Hoss car for?". I had a blue over silver 2.8 Ghia Grandad 22 years ago, nice car.

Here you go! My dream machines, look a bit box shaped now days lol, (not mine but same idea) I thought I was the dogs gonads when I was running around in these bad boys! Jesus who was I trying to kid!!! 
But they were then mate, had my share of those too, including a very bright green Mk1 Granada Consul with the 2.0 V4 from a transit in it, loads of spare room under that bonnet. Mind you they still use Transit engines in cars now, Mondeo and Jaguar X-type.
