Hi gang, so I've been getting a 2000 roadster back up a going after sitting for 4 years or so. Everyone on the site has been very helpful with all my questions. After replacing the top and all the brakes and brake piping, now I'm getting a check engine light. After putting on a diagnosic tool I'm getting 3 faults
1470 leakage diagnosic pump
1510 idle speed control valve stuck
1525 camshaft position actuator
Btw...these all came on after I put gas in it.
Could it have something to do with that?
Am I getting in over my head on this?
Thanks in advance
Tom

Hi Tom, are these "historic" codes, by that I mean did you clear the stored codes then drive to car and recheck to see if any/all codes had returned?

So....I just got the car back up and running, draining the gas and putting in fresh fuel ,about 1.5 gallon, and replacing the battery. After putting on about 10 miles, and some some more fresh gas the light came on. Not sure if there were previous faults. The car is running great with all the current fault. Should I clear the new faults, and how would I do that?
Thanks for reply tonyt. You are always very insightful and helpful.

As Tony suggested, clear the codes, your code reader should be able to do that have a look for the clear codes option on your code reader. The eml should go out when the codes have been cleared. Run the car again then scan the car again with the code reader to see if any have returned. If codes have returned post them back on here so we can see whats going on.

Update. I cleared the codes, put about 10 miles on it, the codes have not reappeared. I hope this is good news. Thanks friends.
To be continued.

Glad that worked, drive the car as much as you can and monitor the dash for the eml, scan it after your drives, some faults will not immediately set a code that will light the eml on the dash, some faults will only trip the eml after the car sees the fault a number of times and some sensors will not set a code if playing up, the Maf in my experience is one of these which dosn't help when you are trying to trace a fault that is affecting driveability. Codes set can also lead you in the wrong direction as sensors upstream or downstream of the actual problem will often be affected by the readings from a particular sensor. Quite often a bit of lateral thinking is required to get to the root of problems when it comes to OBD2 codes. Most common cause of codes on BMW engines are air leaks in the induction system from Maf to exhaust. These are usually down to split or holed rubber hoses and or bad gaskets that allow unmetered air into the vacuum system, cracked plastic parts such as cam covers can also be a cause of vacuum leaks. Keep us updated on the progress you make.

Thanks for the insight. I'm sure I will be looking for more valuable information as I continue with this project.
Thanks again.
