Fats Domino

Spot on @ Uncle_Clanger ! The real 'Kings of Rock & Roll' where the likes of Fats, Chuck Berry, Little Richard etc. Elvis Presley was simply white, in the right place at the right time, had a good manager and was the first real 'teenager's pop star'.

Yeah, but he had a great voice, and his early stuff, 'That's Alright Mama' etc. was good!
Oh to have been a fly on the wall during those early recording sessions!..... No Pro Tools etc. then!

:drinks:

Bonzo.

Can only say " Ain't that a shame" . I was, and still am a big fan of the late 50's Rock and Roll legends. Sadly with Chuck and now Fats, these headlines are going to come thick and fast.:(

Johnny Cash had the same problems until he found his "niche". He toured on the same "caravan " as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins etc. great times.

Yep, They called them 'The Million Dollar Quartet.' Those guys, Chuck Berry and Little Richard started it all!

I have to say that I thought that Fats Domino was a class above his contempories along with Ray Charles and Nat King Cole. I did not really appreciate how good they were until fairly recently when I came to realise that for me Radio 1 is a no go zone and Radio 2 is better than a sleeping pill for getting me to nod off. Good old Radio 4 has gone the way of all BBC media and is nothing but a brain washing channel so my old cd's are getting some hammer. I used to love Radio 4.
