yeah totally agree, what we see is the two guides no longer allow the pin to slide freely so this also makes it hard to remove them. I’ll be doing this exact same process with yours.
Will you install/reinstall the aircon? Personally consider this essential, especially during the winter months. 
I spoke with James who owns this Zed and he told me an interesting story, when his Dad bought the Zed in Germany he had spec’d it with Aircon, somewhere along the way they decided not to install it. The rest of the system is missing so to install it I will need to remove the dash, find a pump condenser etc. It’s a lot of work and money for a car only driven when the weathers nice.Will you install/reinstall the aircon? Personally consider this essential, especially during the winter months.
Tiny update today. Everything was collected from the powder coaters. Only checked the offending swing arm and all is good. Also got the Gearbox back in and fitted some hardware up front.

The offending arm turnt out ok, no longer a risk just some signs of previous corrosion.
Gearbox now back in her home just needs a wipe down.
Now the fun begins fitting all the shinny new stuff.
just waiting on new dust shields before refitting bearings.
Tomorrow we’ll be assembling the rear subframe. Stay tuned

OMG that's a lot of work, fit a new engine give it a re-spray hay presto a new car 
So today was full steam ahead. We fitted the freshly powder coated front roll bar with some nice strong flex bushes and Meyle HD drop links. That now completes the main hardware upfront, just need the brembo discs and backing plates to arrive. Not sure what’s going on with Royal Mail but we seem to only get deliveries every 3/4 days.

also I forgot to show a few photos under the rear with the new straps and being sealed in. We only ever see rust begin on the seems where the chassis is spot welded together.
We also experimented seeing how well some other objects come out being blasted and powder coated. I sent the springs and pin washers. They turnt out amazing.
Now it was onto the main event. We pressed in the new Bilstein bushes and started assembling the arms.

now the shaft gets a quick clean and refitted to the arm.
now the moment of truth. Everything back together.
And a few minutes later installed to the car.
the eagle eyed will notice the new shocks, the old ones performed ok but the corrosion on them was bad.
Now the main reason for the slippy rear and banging over bumps. New Beam bushes sitting high and proud.
Now notice the gap between the plate and bush. Before they were touching.
Not much left to do now. Waiting on brakes, drop links and some front shields. Also have a full service kit with a new rocker cover seal to fit/install. She’s very nearly done now.

This looks like another successful refurb in the making.
Gonna be another well happy Z'er hitting the road. Amazing how a shed queen of many years can actually need nearly as much work as a daily driver of same age. Rust and rubber being it seems the main culprit. Well done again you guys.

More reassembly today. We collected the last of the parts, all the brake bits along with drop links and hand brake cables. It was also a good time to fit the front section of the exhaust and belly brace.

Be rude not to fit new exhaust nuts. Who knows it might be us revisiting these again in the future.

This is by far the best bit of the build, getting to fit all new shinny stuff. The front dust shields arrived allowing me to finish the front.

Unfortunately I’ve had to use mine a couple of times. Had a cracked wheel, so a replacement tyre would have been no use. Also had a 7” tear in a tyre so again the spare got used.I always wondered what's the point of the spare wheel, does anyone actually use it? I'd just call the AA

How much do the shift pins cost? I’ve been quoted near enough £60 per pin, plus spring and caps etc comes out close to £80 per pin x6 = £480!!!!!
That’s just for the parts sourced from BMW.

Thats strange it costs around £55 from BMW. I’ve done 4 gearbox’s this year.
