So, Jack got his first ever car today, very happy boy;

Jack, your car is on the drive (11:45 am), massive interest =))

It's not gone well=)) though he did come second in the "miles per tank" with me in a distant last. Whilst on insurance he came mahhoosivly last, on a technicality he's on a winner as it's funded by the bank of mum and dad. £849 fully comp with a black box and 5000 mile limited policy. Pretty good deal.
Welcome to the club son, now to pass your test :D

Oh, 26k miles, which is nice.

Lucky lad.. And it's red! Do the washer jets spin to face the bus stop? My nephew is the same... His dad got him a nice mark 2 Golf, all ready for modification, is he interested? I don't get it, it's not a moped.

Aspergers boy doesn't do emotion or excitement (sadly :() but deep down we know he's a happy young man :) I won't be informing him about the "washer jet" thing as at only 59 BHP I doubt he'd get away =))

He did talk about a bike/moped but post a "boil in the bag soup" discussion he came round and opted for 4 wheels, which was a relief. He wants a big Yank Tank to do up but that'll be a few years off yet so "Ringo Twingo" will have to do for a couple of years at least.

Very lucky boy :p
Good looking car for his first one :)
Brandon brought his own car a little Renault Clio ;)
But he's now on his 2nd car a Hyundai Coupe ;)
Hope jack passes his test soon ;)

He's booked on an intensive session starting Aug 14th with his test on 31st Aug. Hopefully he'll pass first time :nailbiting:

Brandon passed his test last year :p
But he just had weekly lessons ;)
I was so nervous when he took his test :)
I was so pleased for him that he passed :)
But because all my family passed 1st time he wanted to pass 1st time too ;)
Our grandson is 15 so it now lands on his head to pass 1st as well :)
But it does really matter how many times you have to take a test as long as you pass in the end ;)
My next door neighbour had 7-8 tests I was so pleased for her when she did pass ;)

It's great that the reliance on mum & dads taxi service is gone. The problem comes as they say at 11:30pm that they're off out (take the gf home, pick something up or joining their mates) and not sure when or even if they'll be back

Jonathan will have done 12 months soon so hopefully it will be reasonable cost wise to put him the insurance for the LR. Will be a big shock from driving a roller skate to something much bigger. I know he's not looking forward to it. Character building I call it. :ymdevil:

Congratulations Jack and welcome to the world of motoring.
I would have been really pleased if my parents had purchased this car for me.
She looks great

My boy bought and funded his first car 18 month's ago, which was a nice surprise.
I had saved a slush fund expecting to buy and fund for him.

Left me with the fund to buy my Z3 (I have never told him) =))

He got a nice clean BMW Mini one. Have offered, if he wants a nice individual styling kit to make it individual
etc. But he just say's "Nah"

Kids today, useless :D

I think it'll be a while before Jack funds anything, until then he'll just bleed us to death :arghh:

Early days yet mate though I suspect things will change in the months to come.

Still, it's realy nice to give. Wish my kid's would let me do more while i can.

Saying that, i was the same, looked after myself from a youngster.

Jack; Nice first car, good luck with the test, then enjoy :)

It's a tough time for most parents. Emotionally and financially. We gave Jack £2000 to buy his first car and paid his tax and insurance for the first year which totalled £4000. It crippled us but we always wanted to help him with it.
You worry when they go out until they get home but it's something all parents have to go through. Good luck to you Jack, enjoy it but be bloody careful!!

Yup, left home at 17 and paid my own way in life :)

He's a sensible lad mate but only time will tell.

Me too, at that age I moved over here and was building hanging scaffolding at 110 meters high at a steel works.
At that age you think you are immortal.
When I think back about it now, I get squeaky bum syndrome and sweaty hands.

Money was good though....;)
