I went to @PCD's (thanks) place to get new tank straps installed today (thanks @Mazza). The original ones one pretty bad:

Good thing I bought one go the last starps from @Mazza ...

Then, I got home and installed the wheels I bought from @as400 (thanks), and what a difference. They are staggered, but I think the big thing is that they are shorn with Continental Contact Sports tyres, and I got some nondescript Chinese tyres with the car (Rovelo ?). I went out for a drive, and it felt like a different car. Night and day!

I am not quite sure about being more attractive to the opposite sex, but @Mazza’s thank straps are certainly well made.
Anyway, the old straps were pretty much gone, so it was just timely they were changed over today. Wouldn’t be fun having the petrol tank dropping in the middle of a trip…
 
Even if it did how far could a tank realistically “drop”?
