CHEQUERED FLAG

*NICO ROSBERG GETS POLE POSITION FOR THE CHINESE GRAND PRIX*

0801:
Incredible scenes as Nico Rosberg gets the first pole position of his career with an absolutely sensational lap.
BBC F1 commentator David Coulthard muses that that may have been the perfect lap.
It's Mercedes first pole position since they returned to the sport and first since the Italian GP in 1955.

BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson in Shanghai
"A journalistic colleague has just returned to the media centre with news of a typical encounter with Bernie Ecclestone. 'Are you going to Bahrain?' Ecclestone asked him. 'Yeah,' my friend said, 'are you?' 'No,' Ecclestone countered. 'It's too dangerous.' He was joking, obviously, adding: 'It'll be fine. I am going really - I need some sunshine.'"

Lady presenter....Mr. Ecclestone, how are you coping with Alzheimer's? 'Are you going to Bahrain?'

Please note Rosberg's garage on the left......

What a cracking race that was.......more please... :)

Exceptional first win for Nico Rosberg and both McLarens on the podium.
I am really hissed off that Lotus let Raikkonen loose his tyres...from 2nd to finish 14th. ~x(

As the drivers wait to go on the podium, Lewis Hamilton asks Nico Rosberg: "Did you even have to overtake any cars?" Rosberg said: "No!" Hamilton pats him on the back and congratulates his old friend whom he raced against through the various ranks to get to Formula 1.

Man of the match, Hamilton.

I had a mate who got a job with McLaren on the F1 circuit as an electrician on the set up team.

Sounds glamorous but basically the set up team arrive a week early and install and layout all the facilities, computer terminals etc., and move on to the next one before the team arrives. When racing has finished they go back to break down and so on. :((
He thought he was going to be chatting up the pre race totty...I don't think he even saw practising.....
:))
