Good Monday everyone,
so my Lady and I will be having a road trip next summer in the USA and I managed to book a rental for a very convenient tariff with the basic coverage for 19 days.
I have looked into their extra coverage LDW (Loss damage waiver) and CDW ( Collision damage waiver) but I find them quite pricey and I'm not sure about it (furthermore I believe that on the base hire (AVIS) the damages to other cars in case of accident are covered already?)

With a bit of lookup I found this UK webside

https://www.worldwideinsure.com/

which I've never heard of, but for their deluxe coverage they charge as much as 3 days of extra LDW only in the states, problem is I don't know them and ||I am not very familiar about how this works and if I should purchase extra coverage or not...have you got any tip to give or experience?

One of the things that really annoy me is excess car insurance. Stuck behind someone at the desk who is being charged lots of money for excess insurance with dire warnings of what can go wrong bothers me a bit. This is why I take an annual policy. The hire company will still stick a charge against your credit card but you will still be covered. Check the hire car on arrival as you would do buying a car especially windscreen and tyres. After you return take pictures or get staff member to examine car with you for damage. I use this company.

I would find out who their under writers are. They should give you this information. If it is a reputable company then you should not have any issues.

Thank you all for the tips!

I reviewed my reservation and it appears that CDW is not among the extra coverages that I can purchase, meaning that's probably already included in the hire price. I will cover LCW with one of the two British providers that offer it online.
