My Z was registered in March 2001and I bought it in June 2008 with 21,621 miles on the clock. It was in pretty much A1 condition then and is not much different now with 133,233 miles. It has never been used for a lot of short journeys, when I was working and using it as a daily it was a 25 mile each way trip so it was aleays warmed up. Since retiring mileage hasn't dropped much but it has annual oil changes and plenty of preventive maintenance.
I hope to get plenty more miles from her yet. :thumbsup:
 
Just hit 114000 on mine today, 2000 W reg.
 
I'm over 180,000 on my 2002, 2.2 and she goes well. She is pampered though. She handles pretty much the same as the 2002, 3.0 which hasn't got 70,000 yet.
As others have said regular maintenence and a good history is more important than mileage ;)

Mine just turned 22 yrs in January and has 107000. All original paint and body panels with not a spec of rust nor has there ever been. I don't deal with the weather conditions that most of you do, and I think it has been stored every winter of its life. It was a great find and Im keeping FOREVER!!! Love driving this car. It makes me smile.
 
Bluebird is a 2001 car, and has 105,000 on the clock. None of which matters, because I still smile every time I see it.
 
21 this year. Just over 70k but I have not really driven it much since buying it.
I've had low mileage cars over the years (lowest is my brand new CLA with just 3k currently after 4 months :p) and they do tend to have issues. However currently a 18 years old car with almost 40k and kept in a dehumidified garage and insured for no more than 1500 miles/year and doing very well (touch wood :p).
Previous was 18 when I sold it with 26k and I did have issues despite a Carcoon and recently a DH in the garage.
 
Mine are 105k and 95k but have seen 3 and 5 series cars with all the various engines fitted to our beds with huge mileage over 240k and still running ok if looked after.

But how it has been looked after has a lot to do with it .
In days gone by I worked for a dealership that specialises in private hire leasing.
So you would get 30 or so white Mondeo back after 3 yr lease all to get timing belt full service and mot and any other required repairs noted to be authorized but back to the point these cars would come back with mileage various from just over 100k to over 300k and you would be surprised how many of the higher mileage cars drove better and were in better condition.
So how it's been cared for high or low mileage has a huge impact on what sort of car it is .
 
I do proper analyses of this from time to time. Yeah, sad I know. In fact there's a previous thread I started somewhere.

My last look at this was in Oct 17 and was based on ebay for sale mileage. My own labels of course and these are very subjective.

Since then mileages have (of course) moved on a little. 100k remains a psychological barrier but without re-running the exercise it feels like there are materially less sub-100k cars around now and that prices are sneaking up. I'd possibly expect the 'Sensible' category to be moving towards 85k to 105k now.

I get all the arguments that a high mileage car can be lovely. But the unavoidable truth is, just with repaired write-offs, that values are normally impacted.
 
145,000 MLS and someone in the trade drove it saying " if I didn't know the mileage I would have guessed around 30,000, it feels as tight as a new car". It's not what's on the clock that counts, it's how it's been looked after and maintained. Buy a car from a true enthusiast and I reackon you won't go wrong, after all I could probably have bought a coupe with around 90,000 on it and had nothing but overlooked/unseen repairs needing doing in the short term, as it is I've bought from someone that looked at everything and done it before it was troublesome.
Luck doesn't come into it as I did my homework before making an offer. Luck only came when he @Lee said YES.:eek:
My advise, if you can buy from a enthusiast and/or someone on here you'll likely get something worth having.:thumbsup:

Just do what the dealer would have done and wind the clock back...
Even easier on the newer cars, just need a laptop, don’t have to drive in reverse any more :thumbsup:
 
Still trying to run mine in at 22,000 mile yes that correct abuse by post please. My 66 plate 4 series has 120,000 but I get more smiles per gallon out of my Z3

Mines a 99 and just tipped 53k
