@zedwheels Brian, as its a small city it would be best to book our own hotels in Ypres. Booking.com is a great web site for doing such. Hotel Regina does have parking but needs to be booked in advance for an additional 10€ per night. So overall including breakfast it's very reasonable.

Still waiting full confirmation from euro tunnel, but I am happy at the moment. Most of the booking.com hotels you can reserve till early June for no cost. So it's worth grabbing now.

We've managed to book the Hotel Regina in Ypres and a parking space. For £7 the parking space ought to be at least the size of a football field.

Paul,
Have booked The Carlton Hotel in Folkestone £53 c/w Brekkie, Sea View & free cancellation. along with Mint & Bessieblue, it's 10 mins from the Tunnel, much better deal than Holiday Inn at £109!!!

@EnthuZiaZT .. Looks a nice hotel.. So I have booked The Boss and myself in too. Sea View and Full English for £53 is a steal.

Good find..

I am thinking a good place to meet will be somewhere like the Tesco Superstore just off the M20 and not far for us to travel up from Folkestone. Address is Tesco Superstore, Cheriton High St, Folkestone, Kent CT19 4QJ, United Kingdom

Now it only remains to sort the finer points of the crossing, route and the day itself with @DutchScorpion when he has the details of the stops and food. Thank you for all your understanding on trying to sort all this. Its been a challenge too.

Oh dear......

BOOK YOUR ROOM AT THE CARLTON HOTEL

only for those on a tight budget

Posted 30 Jul 2015
Pros: price ok,large room
Cons: needs a complete overhaul
Location: only stayed overnight but easy to find
Room cleanliness poor-very dusty. decor very tired and stained. tv does not work and no fridge available. walls are paper thin and everything can be heard from neighbouring rooms. bed sheets were clean as was the ensuite bathroom. never met an employee whose first language was English but they were pleasant enough when approached and their english was fine. breakfast was cooked ok but quality was at the very cheap end of food, not quite supermarket cafe level. do not park in front of the hotel as the parking inspectors are up early to catch you out. the rear hotel parking is just a rubble site, so no wearing high heels for you ladies! there was an issue of immigrants at eurotunnel during my overnight stay so it might explain the number of them sat around the hotel entrance. if on a budget, then ok for a night, spend extra elsewhere and get a nights sleep would be better. the hotel is very run down but in a good location, shame.

Hope we don't get left behind for this one. I can't book any holidays for next year until January.
