Engine swap

Hi all,
I’ve a Z3 with a M54b30 3.0 engine and I’d like to swap it for a S54b32 3.2 engine.
Does anyone know if it’s a straight swap or will I need different gear box, ECU, wiring loom etc.

You'll need a mortgage to buy anS54b32 , I looked into it a few years back and decided it was viable

Sean, I’ve seen the s54 advertised for £2800 to £3500, I’m just trying to establish what else I’d need

When I looked it was around 5k just for the engine and at the time you could buy an m for less then 10k

You’ll need the engine loom to match the engine. The Ecu will need to be from the S54. Also mounts from the S54. Because they actually made these to fit the Z3 you can still pick up what you need new.

Someone on Facebook has said they think I’ll also need the front subframe (engine bed) and the dash clocks.
What do you think?
Also do you know if the air con pipework will also line up (as most of it is rigid)

I’ll drop the question about subframe in an engine swap group chat I’m in. I’m pretty sure you don’t need to. As for the aircon I would try swap over the pump and keep the system sealed they might use the same pump. Something worth looking into. Also the 5 speed ZF box mates up to the S54.

Engine matching straight up to the gearbox is a great news, thanks.
The M54 is already out to refresh the engine bay so air con is already in bits (it’ll be good if the a/c pump lines up in the same place)
