Thanks for the offer, would you know which engine it came off. Mine's an M54 2.2, same as the original poster, mrscalex, is going to be fiddling about with at some point soon. I'll be grovelling around underneath it soon, got a loose exhaust bracket that needs a good sorting (and probably a fair bit of swearing) so will try to have a look for any numbers on it.
 
It came off a 328 e46 so I would think its the same. I will draw around it and send it no harm in that.

Will do, there seems to be plenty of information on the interweb about swapping a 6-speed into the Z3Ms but not found anything about the smaller engined ones. It's a fairly pointless exercise, no real gain to be had, but you could say the same about a lot of car modifications. Just be nice to post up a picture on here of a Z3 with a 6-speed knob.

And don't try googling "knob-gags", it'll probably hurt your eyes.Haven't tried it myself, just thinking ahead.
