I know they are out of sight but if you ever need any convincing to change your engine mounts ..take a look at this

2002 M54 113000 miles ….totally knackered. Also 9mm shorter (compressed) than the new ones that went in….and no they don’t usually come in 2 parts 😀

Not if you have a ramp..4 bolts and you should also take the viscous fan and shroud off. I supplied the parts and my local garage did it. Was about an hours labour.

Will put that on the list behind rough idle when cold and the mystery of the fan shroud sizing.

I think a good floor jack should work, if used with care off course.
Yeah you only need to tilt the engine a bit which can be done with a floor jack. Loosen bolts both sides to allow movement and you need to remove the viscous fan and shroud too.
