Sadly most people seem to want to drive big 4x4 type hatchbacks , badly a lot of the time!
Indeed or the new generic ///M offerings even more badly.

Until you have to get your petrol delivered by Amazon at £100 a gallon, at least.

The final incarnation of the Z4 is huge compared to a Z3, not sure why cars seem to be expanding yet in city’s like Bristol the council keeps making the cycling lanes wider!

I drive a 2024 X2 U10 which I suppose is classed as a 4x4 hatchback. When you live rural like me it's better than the 740 I traded in. The Z4 is for summer fun!!
Bit of a shame.
The UK certainly loves a convertible car, much more so than mainland European neighbours. I wonder if sales on he mainland have been low and the UK hasn’t bought enough to make them viable. There are certainly a good few of the new model Z4 on the road.
As much as we love a convertible in the UK, it’s often the summer tourer or the weekend fling. Having a second vehicle is certainly a luxury for the masses in a challenging economy and perhaps people are making a different choice or skipping the second car altogether.
The early z4 cars seemed to offer a bit more variety and price range to let people dip in for a more reasonable fee. New ones aren’t cheap to begin with and that’s before specing any options or selecting a spicier engine.
BMW should have also made a Z4M coupe instead allowing Toyota the exclusivity on a roof top version. I think it would have sold reasonably well, perhaps with a 2+2 shooting break revival. There’s countless Porsche Panamera and Taycans out there of a similar Ilk.

The write up is factually incorrect…the hand job has the same power as the auto..FWIW..

I'm in Texas. When I take the Z3 to the store it gets lost in a sea of pickup trucks, soccermom SUVs and fullsize Suburbans.
