Hi my windows will only go up or down one button push at a time and my interior light doesn't work when the doors are opened any ideas? It's a 1.9 1997

Hi @Dave Beard the windows might need to be reset.
Power window all the way down holding the button all the time then power all the way up again holding the button all the time.
The windows should then do the 'one shot' up or down.

The bulb could have blown, don't shout at me but the switch is in the middle position?
One is off middle is on with doors and next is on all the time.

Hi i can only power the windows down one push at a time will that still reset ok? and the interior light
works fine when right over off in the middle and nothing when the other way even with the doors open

No one could ever shout at you Brian, your to nice!

Hi Brian have just checked the switch again and your right the interior light works just fine when in the middle
and the doors open funny that all my previous cars were off in the middle and on or doors either side or well

@Dave Beard Probably the window runners need lubricating then, they must be stopping as the motor current being used makes the control circuit think there is an obstruction.

Looks as if your interior lights are sorted.

I find my windows are extremely slow during the winter and much faster in the nicer months. I have been told lubricating the rubbers helps this.

Silicon spray for the rubbers and general use spray grease for the runners and slides/guides inside the doors.

Tony.

Not Silicon spray for the runners Tony? Thought the use of Silicon on runners aided in not attracting grit etc unlike normal sprays? Happy to be corrected :)

That's the way I lubricate them Andy, there really shouldn't be any grit to speak of inside the doors so I'm happy to use spray grease. It's a better lubricate for mechanical items such as slides and rollers.

Spot on and thanks

Hi window runners all greased up whilst cards removed for interior door handle fixes both sides funny how both windows were working fine
after that job and now suddenly both windows only move an inch or so with one push of the switch at a time though
