does anyone have any experience with electric sprayers . Are they any good, do you get a good finish.? Can they be used for epoxy paint? Anyone know if a Wagner W 100 Electric Paint Sprayer is any good?
Many. Many years ago I sprayed a car with an electric gun. But it's a LOT of work.
Practise on an old panel.
Acrylic paint. Don't try to get a nice gloss shine. Lots of v-light passes waiting maybe 10 minutes between each pass. Aim for orange peal not shine. Let it dry. Then get the 500 wet&dry and start rubbing By Hand. Till all the orange peal is "almost" flat where you can still see tiny shiny bits between the raised orange peal bumps. Then switch to 1000 then 2000 wet&dry till it's totally flat.
Then get the polishing machine. Rubbing compound with the orange foam. And rub it some more.
I bought a Wagner spraygun in about 1972, and it always worked well on cellulose paint, and would probably be fine on modern paints. It still works, but I do not have a reason to use it.
I bought one in the late 70s. You won't get a good finish straight out of the gun. As IanS wrote, build up the paint thickness with lots of thin layers, then flat and polish. Hard work, but with patience the results can be good.
