We're going on our holidays soon and I noticed that my EHIC card was out of date :p
So I thought I'd better get a new one :)
I went on the site EHIC Direct but they wanted to charge me £34.99 :(
I thought that's not right I'm sure they are free .......:)
So I typed in free EHIC cards ;)
And yes they are Free on NHS Direct ;)
How EHIC Direct can charge that I don't know :(
But now I keep getting emails from them to say they need my bank details as I haven't filled them in yet .

Have a look on the right hand side of the web site. They sell their services as a checking service and justify their charge that way.

In short - avoid. Very easy to sort out with the NHS directly for free.

Always go to the official 'Gov.' sites, as anything else will be a private money making business. It's the same with anything else like that,if you just type in 'car registration' or 'passport' etc, you will get several unofficial sites that sound official, but just charge you for what you can do free.

Yes I done the NHS for free :p
It was because that site came up first ;)
I just clicked on it and started to fill it in ;)
It wasn't until I clicked on the next page I had to but my bank details in and it said how much they were charging you , it's then I clicked it off :)

As I understand ,they pay money to go top of the list , and work on folk not checking the site address compared with the gov ones.
